The best time of year is definitely now. The time of when the holiday season starts coming right after the other. When October hits and fall comes, Christmas is just around the corner.
Yesterday our little family went on our first holiday fall outing. We went to a pumpkin farm and picked our first pumpkins! The first and last time I picked a pumpkin was when I was between 8-10 years old with my grandparents and little cousins. It wasn’t even a big pumpkin it was one of those pie pumpkins. I’m even more excited now because we each picked a different pumpkin and we get to carve them out! I’ve never carved a pumpkin before. It’s not really a Filipino tradition. Even though I grew up with an American step father, we still didn’t really do a lot of memorable childhood things. That’s why I told myself before I got married, that if I did have a family I would do everything that I can with my kids. Do a lot of activities and crafts. Especially, if I was given the opportunity to be a stay at home mom for while (which I am).
The first fall outing was a success. Now we’re waiting to carve our pumpkins until it get’s a little bit closer to Halloween. Husband says if we carve them too early they will rot faster. Now, I’m not sure if he’s right or not, but I’ll take his word for it. I will have to do an update on how or carving goes after we do them.
